These Japanese playing cards are from a Japanese comic/manga artist that as I post this has completely slipped my mind. I’ll have to hunt for the name later, too bad I don’t read Japanese. The creepy mystical/mythical is mixed with a modern manga-toon aesthetic. I also have no idea how to play this game either, but think its based on some old traditional Japanese card game.
Archive for the other artists CategoryI enjoy stumbling on alternative means of creative interfaces, and it’s hard to beat this from Ze Frank. Absolutely mesmerizing abstract video. Yes, hobo nickels. File this under obscure art forms. Carving artwork into nickels is something I hadn’t thought of, and may put on my long list of things to try out.
The library of congress just added some vintage photography to flickr. Its nice to see them opening up some of the collection to the public. The sampling is mixed although there are some images that stand out. The above photo is a home-stead family in Pie-Town New Mexico. More in Pie Town I thought this little drawing is indicative of blogging addiction. Nice one from myheartismadeofgravy.
