Fascinating to see how far back researchers were toying around with these ideas. Probably because they are more universal and “obvious” than most think.
These Japanese playing cards are from a Japanese comic/manga artist that as I post this has completely slipped my mind. I’ll have to hunt for the name later, too bad I don’t read Japanese. The creepy mystical/mythical is mixed with a modern manga-toon aesthetic. I also have no idea how to play this game either, but think its based on some old traditional Japanese card game.
So I’ve finally gotten to the stage of animating this thing and I’m fairly pleased with the results. Sculpting and blend-shapes were the most fun part of this, hopefully I’ll have some time this year to create other characters in this vein. Clicking on the image shows some of the After Effects compositing.
Not the most exciting glitch I’ll admit, but a glitch non the less. Seems like the iPhone has some issues with taking photos sometimes. I’ve run across this a couple of times. It looks like some electronic schematic.
So I’ve been doodling on the iPhone with the Brushes App. The thickness of my fingers sort of make for some chubby drawings, but all in all its a nice experience to draw with my fingers again like in grade school.
